Heavy Inflows Prompt Opening of 29 Gates at Jurala Project

Hyderabad: The Priyadarshini Jurala Project (PJP) in erstwhile Mahbubnagar has witnessed significant inflows due to continuous rains, leading to the lifting of 29 gates for controlled water release.

Presently, the project is receiving 1.71 lakh cusecs of inflows from the upstream areas. It is expected to receive more inflows as heavy rains continue to lash its upstream areas in Karnataka for the last few days.

The officials of Irrigation department were releasing 1.76 lakh cusecs of water downstream. Scores of villages are reaching the project site to have a glance of water gushing out of the gates.
