HC Hears Pleas on Directions to TGSPSC to Not Give Effect to ST Quota Boost

The Telangana High Court on Wednesday heard a batch of petitions seeking directions to the TGSPSC to not give effect to the ST reservation enhancement decision of the state government, conveyed in September 2022 through GO 33 in the Group-1 recruitment.

Hyderabad:The Telangana High Court on Wednesday heard a batch of petitions seeking directions to the TGSPSC to not give effect to the ST reservation enhancement decision of the state government, conveyed in September 2022 through GO 33 in the Group-1 recruitment.

In the GO, the government had enhanced the quantum of ST reservations from six to 10 per cent, and made it applicable to educational institutions and employment. The petitioners sought directions to the commission and the government to implement the ST reservations only up to six per cent.

The High Court had earlier said that the Group-1 selections, if any, would be subject to the final judgment in this batch of petitions. The court adjourned the matter to June 12. The TGSPSC went forward to complete the recruitment process by verifying the documents of the shortlisted candidates on April 16.
