In a statement, Ramchander Rao also pointed to alleged policy failures like the controversial HILT policy and mishandling of GHMC expansion, calling these actions “deceptive and disastrous.”
HYDERABAD: The Telangana BJP would organise a protest on Sunday at Dharna Chowk near Indira Park, against the Congress government’s alleged failure to implement its election promises and deliver effective governance.
The protest will see the participation of senior party leaders, including state BJP president N. Ramchander Rao, Union minister G. Kishan Reddy, party vice-president D.K. Aruna, OBC Morcha president Dr K. Laxman, and several BJP MPs, MLCs, MLAs, and state office bearers.
At a separate function, organised to pay tribute to Dr B.R. Ambedkar on his death anniversary, Ramchander Rao claimed that the BJP respected the Indian Constitution, while the had repeatedly violated it during its long tenure in power. He highlighted how Dr Ambedkar’s Constitution enshrined equality, justice, and fundamental rights, yet faced multiple challenges during Congress rule, including the imposition of the Emergency which curtailed basic freedoms.
Rao pointed out Congress’s failure to honour Ambedkar with the Bharat Ratna while awarding it to leaders like Nehru and Indira Gandhi. He praised the BJP’s role in securing the posthumous Bharat Ratna for Dr Ambedkar in 1990 and lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi for elevating Dr Ambedkar’s legacy through major memorials and development projects nationwide, including the grand statue at Mahul and the preservation of sites linked to Dr Ambedkar’s life.
The event was attended by senior BJP leaders including state general secretary Chandrashekhar Tiwari, state secretaries Dr Gautam Rao and Vemula Ashok, SC Morcha state president Kanti Kiran, and senior leader Chinta Sambamoorthy.
