Hanamkonda: Journalists Seek Probe into Alleged Lapses in SC/ST Case Investigation
The journalists urged the commissioner to conduct a detailed inquiry, examine the relevant police records, witness statements and documents submitted to the court, and initiate action against those found responsible in accordance with the law.
Hanamkonda: Four journalists on Saturday lodged a complaint with Warangal police commissioner S. Shweta, seeking a comprehensive inquiry into alleged irregularities in the investigation of an SC/ST case (FIR No. 471/2025) and legal action against those responsible.
Journalists Gaddam Keshavamurthy, Thota Sudhakar, Pendem Venumaadhav and Merugula Rajendraprasad said they were witnesses in the case registered at Subedari police station.
They alleged that no police officer, including investigating officer and Hanamkonda ACP Narasimha Rao, had summoned them for questioning.
They claimed that documents stating they had given statements in the ACP’s presence on August 15, 2025, had been prepared and submitted to the court, although their statements had not been recorded.
They said they later learnt that the case had been closed based on the documents submitted to the court.
The journalists urged the commissioner to conduct a detailed inquiry, examine the relevant police records, witness statements and documents submitted to the court, and initiate action against those found responsible in accordance with the law.
The complainants said commissioner Shweta examined the documents and assured them that the details would be collected, an inquiry conducted and steps taken to ensure justice.
Kankanala Santhosh, the complainant in the case, also submitted a separate representation to the Commissioner, alleging that he had been denied justice.
Representatives of journalists’ associations and several other journalists attended the meeting.
