Kondagattu: Hanuman Jayanti was celebrated with grandeur and devotion at the renowned Kondagattu Anjaneya Swamy temple in Jagtial district on Saturday, drawing thousands of devotees from across Telangana and neighbouring states.
A large number of Hanuman Deeksha Swamis arrived barefoot from towns and villages in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Karnataka, trekking distances between 150 to 250 km as part of their spiritual vow.
The three-day “Chinna Jayanti” celebrations started on Friday and will conclude on Sunday. Devotees began queuing up for darshan from midnight on Friday, showcasing the immense devotion towards Lord Hanuman.
Special rituals, including Abhishekam to the Mulavirat (main deity), Suprabhata Seva, and presentation of Pattu Vastrams (silk clothes), were performed on Saturday. The Deeksha Swamis marked the conclusion of their vows with the Deeksha Viramana ceremony, carrying Irumudis while ascending the Kondagattu hill. The temple premises resonated with chants of “Jai Sriram” and “Jai Hanuman.”
The police department deployed tight security to ensure smooth conduct of the celebrations. Officials from the endowments department also supervised temple proceedings to facilitate orderly darshan for devotees.
Due to the large influx of devotees, vehicular movement on the Jagtial-Karimnagar highway was significantly impacted. Among the dignitaries who visited the temple were MLAs M. Sanjay Kumar and Adlur Laxman Kumar, Jagtial district collector B. Satya Prasad, and superintendent of police Ashok Kumar.
