Hyderabad: The State government has decided to review the recently launched RTC-Metro common pass charges, said Transport and BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar here on Monday.

He said that the public's views and actual conditions are being reviewed in the wake of continuous complaints from the public that the common pass charges are high. The current common pass prices are Rs.400 for a daily pass, of which the metro rail share is Rs.300 and the TGSRTC share is Rs.100.

Similarly, the monthly common pass price is Rs.8,500, of which the metro share is Rs.7,000 and the RTC share is Rs.1,500. However, in the wake of complaints stating that the charges became burdensome for the common people, the minister said that the government has decided to review the charges as per the instructions of Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka.

Prabhakar said that a meeting will be held soon with senior officials to determine the RTC-Metro common pass prices so that they are affordable to the people after examining the actual conditions.

The Minister clarified that the main objective of the government is to further strengthen the public transport system and ensure that people use RTC and Metro services widely. He said that an appropriate decision will be taken to implement the common pass system at affordable prices to benefit the passengers financially, according to their needs.

Prabhakar stated that the government's intention is to further develop public transport through the RTC-Metro common pass and provide better transport facilities to the passengers. He revealed that the government's objective is not to impose additional charges on the people and that an appropriate decision will be taken soon after considering the opinions of the people.
