Karimnagar: A man in police custody attempted suicide by jumping from the first floor of a police station building. He sustained serious injuries and was undergoing treatment at a hospital.
The man was identified as Ajay, a native of Ramakrishna Colony in Timmapur mandal. According to reports, LMD police had taken him into custody four days ago in connection with a series of alleged offences.
Following the incident, Ajay’s family members staged a protest in front of the police station, alleging that he had been tortured by the police despite admitting to the alleged offences.
The incident has raised concerns, particularly as the LMD Circle Inspector (CI), Sub-Inspector (SI) and a constable were suspended a few days ago over alleged corruption.
