Governor Calls Yoga India’s Timeless Gift
Special programmes were conducted for pregnant women, schoolchildren, geriatric patients and adolescents.
Hyderabad: Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla described yoga as a timeless gift of India to humanity and a powerful tool for physical, mental and spiritual well‑being. Participating in International Day of Yoga celebrations at Lok Bhavan on Sunday, he said yoga helps build physical strength, mental resilience and inner balance.
Senior officials, including Governor’s special chief secretary M. Dana Kishore, joint secretary Shashikiran Komandur and deputy secretary G. Pallavi, joined officers and staff in the programme. Representatives of The Art of Living guided participants through various yoga practices and asanas.
Addressing the gathering, the Governor said yoga offers a path to inner peace, self‑discipline and positive energy in today’s fast‑paced world. He praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for securing global recognition for the International Day of Yoga.
The Intelligence Security Wing (ISW) organised Yoga Day celebrations at the PET Parade Grounds in Yousufguda under the supervision of Deployment SP Syed Basha. CMSG G. Chakravarthi attended as chief guest.
Speaking at the event, he said yoga is vital for security personnel as it helps them overcome stress and remain alert while on duty. Additional SP Vasudeva Reddy led officers and staff through the Common Yoga Protocol, including postures, pranayama and meditation.
At AIIMS Bibinagar, Yoga Day was celebrated under the theme “Yoga for Healthy Ageing.” A week‑long series of activities included radio talks on Garbhsanskar, Bala Yoga, Vriddha Yoga, Chakra Meditation and the history of yoga.
Special programmes were conducted for pregnant women, schoolchildren, geriatric patients and adolescents. The celebrations concluded with a Mass Common Yoga Protocol, a virtual address by Prime Minister Modi, yogic performances by students and Satvik refreshments. Faculty, students, staff and community members participated.
