Hyderabad: With a year left for the GHMC elections, the state government has released Rs.700 crore to the corporation. GHMC commissioner K. Ilambarithi has directed the six zonal officers to prepare proposals worth Rs.25 crore each.

"The proposals should include only major works such as storm water drains, laying/restoration of roads and development of parks," said a GHMC official here on Thursday.

The BRS government had just ahead of the Assembly polls promised funds to GHMC and the ZCs had prepared proposals. The money was never released.

Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, corporation officials said the ZCs’ proposing works cannot be linked to next year’s elections.
