Hyderabad: A 55-year-old man has been arrested in Hanumakonda district, and 251 kilograms of ganja, valued at approximately Rs 1.25 crore, was seized from him, police said on Tuesday.

Based on information, police conducted a search of the ganja smuggler's house and seized 251 kgs of ganja, along with a two-wheeler, Rs 9,000 in cash and one mobile phone, Warangal Police Commissioner N Swetha said in a release.

As per preliminary investigation, the accused, with an intention to make easy money, had established a network for procuring ganja at a low price from Odisha state. He subsequently supplied the contraband at higher prices to persons operating in Telangana, Maharashtra, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh, the Commissioner said.
Police have registered a case and taken up a detailed investigation to identify and apprehend the other persons involved in the inter-state ganja supply network, she said.
Special teams have been formed to trace and apprehend the persons from other states who allegedly purchased ganja from the accused, the senior police official added.
