Ganesh Idol Immersion Held Peacefully in Nizamabad

Nizamabad:Ganesh idol immersion was held peacefully in Nizamabad district on Friday, with idols immersed in the Godavari and its tributary Manjeera and other water bodies.

The Ganesh Shobha Yatra began at Dubba and passed through the main streets of Nizamabad. TPCC president and MLC B. Mahesh Kumar Goud, Mayor K. Uma Rani, former MLAs Endala Laxminarayana and Akula Lalitha, former MLC Arikela Narsa Reddy and Additional Collector V. Bhujanga Rao took part in the procession organised by the Sarvajanik Ganesh Mandal.

Public representatives and officials performed a special puja at the Sarvajanik Ganesh Mandal in Dubba before the procession. They broke coconuts before the chariot, which was pulled by bulls and devotees.

Ganesh pandal representatives, leaders of various political parties and prominent citizens welcomed the participants. They also paid floral tributes to the statue of Bal Gangadhar Tilak at a junction.

Sarvajanik Ganesh Mandal president Bantu Ganesh flagged off the procession. The elaborately decorated chariot was a major attraction.

Additional collector V. Bhujanga Rao appealed to devotees to celebrate the immersion festival peacefully. He said the district administration had made arrangements for an uninterrupted procession.

Sectoral officers were deployed to monitor arrangements at Yanch, Umeda and other immersion points across the district. Adequate cranes and trained swimmers were deployed, while barricades and lighting arrangements were made, he said.

Commissioner of police P. Sai Chaitanya said nearly 2,000 police personnel had been deployed for security during the procession. Nizamabad Municipal Corporation Commissioner Dileep Kumar, Nizamabad ACP B. Prakash and others were present.

Ganesh idols were also immersed in the ‘Vinayakula Bavi (well)’ at Vinayaknagar.
