Food Safety Inspection: Poor Sanitation, Storage Facilities Mar Hygiene At Vijayawada Special Krishna Cafe, Palamuru Grill

In their continuing inspections on eateries in Hyderabad, the food safety officials identified several violations at Vijayawada Special Krishna Cafe at Gajularamaram and Palamuru Grill Bar & Restaurant at Kondapur.

At the Palamuru Grill Bar & Restaurant, the officials observed that the labels on prepared food items were tampered, rusted freezer with water accumulating in the racks which could pose contamination risk, houseflies in the kitchen, grease and dirt accumulation on ceilings and lights.

At the same time, some good practices were also found at the eatery like food handlers using caps and aprons, strict adherence to cleaning schedule and availability of medical fitness certificates.

During the inspection, the management discarded stale food and expired mushrooms after the officials insisted on disposing them.

At the Vijayawada Special Krishna Cafe, raw materials were stored in a disorganized manner with spillages, dough and chutney were left uncovered and unlabeled, kitchen was partially open allowing entry of dust and pests, dustbins were overflowing with houseflies around food preparation areas, water stagnation was found near the washing area indicating the poor maintenance of sanitation on the premises that could promote breeding of pests.




When the food safety officials pointed out to the iron knives being used for food preparation, the management discarded them. The officials issued instructions to use stainless steel knives for better hygiene.
