Foreign medical graduate— DC File

HYDERABAD: Foreign medical graduate (FMG) interns staged a dharna at Dharna Chowk here on Thursday, demanding stipend parity with Indian medical graduates, release of arrears and protection against punitive action for participating in the protest.

The FMG interns demanded that the state government issue an order or circular fixing their monthly stipend at ₹29,792, on par with India-educated medical graduates. They also sought the release of eligible arrears from January 2026. They alleged that they were being paid `5,000 only.

The protesters urged the authorities to ensure that interns participating in peaceful demonstrations were not subjected to punitive measures, including unfair extensions of their internship. Representatives said the protest would continue until the government issued a written order or circular addressing their demands.

Members of the Telangana State Medical Council, Osmania Junior Doctors Association, Healthcare Reforms Doctors Association, FAIMA and other medical organisations extended support.
