Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Friday asked officials concerned to immediately take over the 550 acres prime land in Miyapur after the Supreme Court’s favourable verdict and fence it properly.

Terming the verdict as historic, he said the former Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s (KCR) relative Damodar Rao with the help of a businessman Goldstone Prasad tried to encroach the Miyapur land worth over Rs.50,000 crore.

He accused the KCR, his family members and leaders of trying to encroach the government lands. They allegedly tried to tamper with the revenue records and tried to encroach lands.

He recalled that the Congress party, which was in opposition during the BRS regime fought against the then State government to protect the land. After the Congress came to power, the State government argued the case and secured a favourable decision.

He said a favorable decision would be taken on how to use the Miyapur land based on the report of the cabinet sub-committee. If necessary, the amount generated through the sale of the land would be utilized for strengthening the education for the benefit of students.

Revanth Reddy said the Congress government managed to protect government lands worth Rs.1.50 lakh crore in the last three years. A probe has already been initiated into the land encroachment done by the BRS leaders including MLA T Harish Rao during their regime.
