Family Members Can Appear for SIR Notice Hearings on Behalf of Electors
The move comes during the notice and verification phase of the ongoing SIR exercise.
Hyderabad:The Telangana Chief Electoral Officer has simplified the process for resolving notices issued to voters as part of the special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral roll, allowing an adult family member to appear before the electoral registration officer (ERO) or assistant ERO on behalf of the elector.
CEO C, Sudharshan Reddy said an adult member of the elector’s family could appear in person before the ERO or AERO and submit the required documents and information relating to the family member who received the notice.
He directed officials to receive the documents and take necessary steps to dispose of the notices. District Election Officers have already been informed about the arrangement and have been asked to ensure that notices issued to electors are examined and resolved accordingly.
The move comes during the notice and verification phase of the ongoing SIR exercise. The draft electoral roll was published on August 17, with notices being issued to electors whose details require verification.
The CEO also directed officials to ensure that declaration forms were obtained for pending and future Form-6 applications for fresh voters, while considering October 1, 2026, as the qualifying date, as part of the scrutiny of applications and disposal of claims.
