NALGONDA: Grieving families of the six passengers killed in the Dorakunta road accident have demanded stringent action against Fresh Bus Travels, alleging that negligent driving by its driver led to the crash. They also urged the government to take steps to prevent such accidents.
Jinnalagadda Salman, father of victim Bollipongu Meri Joshna, alleged that the driver’s negligence caused the fatal accident and urged the state government to take stringent action against the bus operator. He also sought steps to prevent such incidents in future.
Heart-rending scenes were witnessed at the mortuary of the Government Hospital in Kodad as relatives gathered to receive the bodies of the victims.
Five of the deceased — Bollipongu Meri Joshna, Suravarapu Shakeena, Konduru Bavanvarsha, Pidikiti Lakshmi and Chenna Keshavula Nagendra Babu all software engineers working for different IT companies in Hyderabad. They had planned to travel to their native places in Andhra Pradesh on Wednesday night after work, taking advantage of the Rakhi holiday on Friday and the long weekend.
Nagendra Babu was travelling to Vijayawada to attend his brother’s wedding, while the sixth victim Yasarapu Chinni, a tailor was returning to Telaprolu after visiting her father, who had recently been injured in a road accident in Hyderabad.
Following instructions from the state government, the district authorities arranged ambulances to transport the bodies to their native places in Andhra Pradesh.
