Fake Doctor Busted at Madinaguda Hospital

Hyderabad: The Telangana Medical Council (TGMC) found one Kalapala Bharat Kumar allegedly posing as a doctor and working at a hospital in Madinaguda. Kumar passed off a fake registration certificate and did not have a degree in modern medicine.

During a surprise inspection on March 19, 2025, a TGMC team led by member Dr Kadali Vishnu, along with vigilance officers M. Ramu and M. Rakesh, had identified Kumar. Following this, the TGMC filed complaint with the Miyapur police. The case is under investigation. TGMC officials said they are waiting for updates from the Miyapur police.

Techie booked for black marketing IPL tickets

Hyderabad:A 21-year-old software professional Vignesh was booked by the Begumpet police for attempting to resell IPL match tickets at inflated prices. He was hawking tickets for the Hyderabad matches scheduled for April 23 and April 25. Police said Vignesh got the idea after a friend told him about purchasing tickets online and attending the matches. Vignesh posted a WhatsApp status offering them for resale at higher rates. Begumpet inspector B. Prasada Rao confirmed that a case has been registered under Section 112 of the BNS.

Knife-wielding gang robs couple in broad daylight

Hyderabad: In a broad-daylight robbery in Rajendranagar on Monday, a gang of four men armed with knives broke into a house in P&T Colony and made away with around 40 grams of gold, silver articles and an undisclosed amount of cash.

The gang arrived at 9.40 am in a car, entered the residence after threatening the residents at knifepoint. Rajendranagar SHO Kastro said, “We are investigating whether the suspects had done a recce before targeting this home or if it was a random act. CCTV footage is also being examined,” he said.

Woman cop found dead in Meerpet

Hyderabad: Nagole constable Aakula Deepika, 38, was found dead at her residence in Hasthinapuram Teachers Colony on Monday. Meerpet police suspected that it could be a case of suicide.

Police said Deepika’s husband Ravi Kumar found her unresponsive and called the police. Preliminary investigations suggested personal or financial stress could be a factor, though officials have not confirmed the motive. Meerpet SHO K. Nagaraju said, “No suicide note was found at the scene. We are investigating the matter from all angles.”

Banned e-cigarette racket busted in Abids

Hyderabad: The Telangana Anti-Narcotics Bureau (TGANB) and Hyderabad police busted a racket selling banned e-cigarettes and vapes to school and college students in Abids. Two brothers Sadiq Lalani and Anil Lalani were caught running the illegal operation through a WhatsApp group with about 500 members.

Police estimated that the duo sold e-cigarettes worth around Rs.1 crore across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. During the raid, officials seized 1,217 e-cigarettes of various international brands valued at Rs.25 lakh from their residence, along with Rs.18,440 in cash.

The brothers sourced products from Delhi and Mumbai, used hawala channels for large transactions, and relied on app-based platforms and courier services for delivery. Thirteen juvenile buyers were identified, and their parents will be counselled, said the police.

A case has been booked under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA), the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA) and the Juvenile Justice Act. Authorities urged the public to report such offences by dialling 1908 or via email.
