SCR Logs Record Passenger, Freight Performance

Hyderabad: The South Central Railway on Thursday reported record performance across passenger and freight segments for the financial year 2025-26. General Manager Sanjay Kumar Srivastava said the zone carried 286.44 million originating passengers during the year, while registering freight revenue of Rs 13,575 crore, the highest so far.

Passenger revenue touched Rs.6,235.37 crore, the highest since the zone’s inception, surpassing the previous record of Rs.5,714.83 crore in 2024-25. Passenger traffic also rose from 263.36 million in 2024-25 to 286.44 million in 2025-26.

The zone recorded gross originating revenue of Rs 21,211.92 crore, a 3 per cent increase over Rs 20,569.35 crore in 2024-25, officials said.

He said the Budget allocation for 2026-27 stood at Rs.13,026 crore, compared to Rs.11,012 crore in 2025-26, marking an 18.3 per cent increase.

On infrastructure, out of 119 Amrit stations being developed, 40 were located in Telangana. Three stations — Warangal, Begumpet and Karimnagar — have been inaugurated, while five others are nearing completion.
