ED Raids The Residence Of Former IAS Officer Anjaneyulu
Searches conducted at 7 locations across AP and Telangana
Hyderabad:The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday conducted searches at seven locations across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana as part of its money-laundering investigation into alleged irregularities in the evaluation of Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) Group-1 Mains examination answer scripts.
The searches began on Wednesday morning at premises linked to former APPSC secretary and senior IPS officer P.S.R. Anjaneyulu and private firms allegedly involved in the evaluation process.
The ED searched Anjaneyulu’s residence at Kasimbowli in Ranga Reddy district and premises at Panchavati Colony in Manikonda, Panjagutta, Neredmet, the Truegrader firm in Secunderabad and Venkatapuram in Alwal. Searches were also conducted at Haailand Resort near Mangalagiri in Andhra Pradesh.
The ED is examining financial transactions involving Anjaneyulu, Madhusudan, associated with a private evaluation firm, and other entities. The investigation focuses on alleged irregularities in the award of evaluation contracts, utilisation of funds and payments made to private firms.
The APPSC issued a notification in 2018 to recruit candidates for 169 Group-1 posts, and the Mains examination was held in December 2020.
According to the Special Investigation Team (SIT) report, the answer scripts were evaluated in two phases, involving digital and manual processes. The evaluation was carried out over 84 days at Haailand Resort near Mangalagiri.
The SIT found that 66 persons, who allegedly lacked the required qualifications, were entrusted with evaluating the answer scripts. The investigation also revealed payments of `1.14 crore to CamSign Media and `1.38 crore to firms involved in digital evaluation.
The SIT report identified 287 instances of barcode discrepancies and the use of correction fluid on 169 answer scripts. Investigators questioned 173 witnesses and examined forensic evidence as part of the probe.
A case relating to the alleged evaluation irregularities was registered at Suryaraopet police station in Vijayawada in April 2025. Anjaneyulu was named as the first accused (A1), while Madhusudan, a director of a private firm, was named as the second accused (A2). Anjaneyulu and Madhusudhana Rao were subsequently arrested in connection with the case.
Following the SIT investigation, the ED registered a case under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) in October 2026 to examine the financial transactions linked to the alleged irregularities.
