ECI Extends SIR Voter Enumeration Deadline To August 10 In Telangana
Hyderabad trails in digitisation as electoral roll revision gathers pace across the state
Hyderabad: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has once again extended the last date for submitting voter enumeration forms as part of the special intensive revision of electoral roll (SIR), 2026 in Telangana. The last date for submission under the revised schedule is August 10. Earlier, the deadline was extended from July 24 to August 3.
As per the latest schedule, house-to-house visits by booth-level officers (BLOs) as part of the enumeration phase will continue until August 10. The rationalisation and rearrangement of polling stations will also be conducted on August 10.
The draft electoral roll will be published on August 17, and voters can file claims and objections between August 17 and October 15. The final publication of the electoral rolls will be on October 19.
In Telangana, the enumeration phase began on June 25. Till 6 pm on Friday, poll officials had digitised 76.12 per cent of the enumeration form data in the state. However, Hyderabad is lagging behind all the districts, with 56.31 per cent digitisation of enumeration forms. Officials, however, claim that they have distributed the enumeration forms to all voters.
In the city, the process of filling out and submitting voter enumeration forms was underway and has gathered pace, with BLOs, booth level agents (BLAs) appointed by political parties, resident welfare associations, corporators and MLAs reaching out to people and participating in the process.
In community halls and places with high footfall, such as markets, some MLAs have pressed their party workers into service to assist voters. They have set up tables and chairs and are helping voters search for their names in the 2022 electoral rolls, fill out forms and contact the BLOs.
Speaking at the SIR awareness programme organised on Friday at Mahatma Jyotirao Phule Praja Bhavan, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said that the Family Register Certificate (FRC) is available at tahsildar offices and MeeSeva centres.
He said that the state government is providing the FRC so that citizens can furnish their own details and those of their family members whenever requested by any institution or system.
Transport minister Ponnam Prabhakar, Telangana Minorities Residential Educational Institutions Society vice chairman Faheem Qureshi and others participated in the programme.
