Drone Surveillance Introduced For Bonalu Traffic
The Bonalu festivities, being held within the Traffic Golconda Zone limits, began on July 16 and will continue till August 13.
HYDERABAD: City traffic police introduced drone surveillance during the annual Bonalu celebrations at Golconda Fort to strengthen traffic management, monitor parking facilities and ensure hassle‑free movement of devotees throughout the festival.
The Bonalu festivities, being held within the Traffic Golconda Zone limits, began on July 16 and will continue till August 13. Acting on the directions of Hyderabad Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar, elaborate traffic bandobust arrangements have been put in place for the month‑long celebrations.
The traffic management operations are being supervised by joint commissioner of police (Traffic) D. Joel Davis, while Traffic DCP Kajal and Golconda Zone Traffic ACP D. Dhanalakshmi are monitoring traffic regulation, route diversions, parking management and overall bandobast through real‑time drone surveillance.
According to police, drones are providing continuous aerial monitoring of notified traffic diversion points to ensure compliance with diversion plans and facilitate smooth vehicular movement. The aerial surveillance also covers designated parking areas around Golconda Fort to assess parking availability, prevent unauthorised roadside parking and help traffic personnel guide motorists to vacant parking spaces.
The drones are also monitoring major approach roads, internal lanes and congregation points to identify traffic bottlenecks instantly, enabling personnel on the ground to regulate traffic without delay. Police said the deployment of drone technology has significantly enhanced situational awareness, allowing for precision‑based traffic management during the Bonalu festival. The initiative is aimed at ensuring maximum safety, convenience and uninterrupted traffic flow for devotees and the general public visiting the historic Golconda Fort throughout the celebrations.
