Congress Ready For Debate On BRS Misrule

NIZAMABAD:TPCC chief B. Mahesh Kumar Goud said the Congress was ready for a debate on the BRS government’s ten‑year rule versus the two‑and‑a‑half years of people’s governance under the Revanth Reddy administration. Former minister K.T. Rama Rao was shedding crocodile tears over jobs after doing nothing about unemployment, and former minister T. Harish Rao, who handled the irrigation portfolio, was now lamenting about the drought‑like situation, he said.

During the BRS regime, only the family members of then Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao got jobs, while the Congress government had provided 70,000 jobs under its people‑centric governance, Goud told mediapersons at Congress Bhavan here. He was speaking along with Congress MLAs P. Sudarshan Reddy and R. Bhupathi Reddy after taking part in various programmes here on Tuesday. Goud said that the Congress government had fulfilled the majority of its election promises.

He said the BRS regime had wasted over ₹1 lakh crore on the Kaleshwaram project. Chandrashekar Rao, who had taken all the decisions himself, was now claiming he had nothing to do with them, Goud noted. Many unemployed youth lost their lives during the BRS regime and people were no longer believing false propaganda, he said. “The people have not forgotten the misrule of the BRS government,” he said.

Countering criticism by the BJP, Goud alleged that its leaders “were behaving like thieves”. He claimed that a BJP MLA was openly talking about grabbing private properties and added that under the pretext of the SIR, attempts were being made to remove the votes of poor people. The Congress was preventing attempts to delete voters’ names and protecting the vote of every person, he said.

Goud asked if the BJP‑led Centre had provided the two crore jobs that it promised. BJP MP Dharmapuri Arvind should explain how many jobs he had brought to the undivided Nizamabad district, Goud said. “Why has Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan not been removed despite the many scandals,” he asked, and said the lathicharge on students in the Capital was inhuman and condemnable. “It feels as though the country is under authoritarian rule,” the TPCC chief said.
