Renowned oncologist Dr Nori Dattatreyudu on Friday presented the Cancer Atlas of Telangana to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, providing a detailed report on the prevalence of cancer across the state.

The Chief Minister congratulated Dr Dattatreyudu for preparing the report and described the atlas as an important tool in strengthening the fight against cancer in Telangana.

Revanth Reddy said the report would help the government identify regions with a high incidence of cancer and study the factors contributing to the growing number of cases in those areas. He said the findings would enable authorities to establish special cancer screening centres in regions reporting higher prevalence.

The Chief Minister reiterated the government’s commitment to strengthening healthcare infrastructure for cancer treatment across the state. He announced that special cancer hospitals would be established not only in Hyderabad but also in districts witnessing a high number of cancer cases, enabling patients to access treatment closer to their homes.

He also directed officials to ensure more effective implementation of cancer treatment services under the Aarogyasri scheme in corporate hospitals.

Among those present during the meeting were Health Minister C. Damodar Rajanarsimha, MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy, CMO Principal Secretary Sreenivasa Raju and Health Secretary Dr Christina Z. Chongthu.
