Hyderabad:The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has written to the income-tax department seeking an investigation into properties allegedly held in benami names in connection with several officials who the agency had recently raided in connection with alleged disproportionate assets.

Among the cases referred to the I-T department where those of suspended DSP Sankireddy Bheem Reddy, Muthyam Venkat Ramana of the Telangana Renewable Energy Development Corporation (Redco); HMDA chief engineer Ravinder, land records deputy director Sunkari Narahari Rao, excise superintendent Kommuri Mallareddy, and R&B engineer-in-chief Mohan Naik.

In each of their cases, the ACB had alleged that it had found disproportionate assets worth hundreds of crores by market value. The assets included land, buildings, investments and several kilograms of gold ornaments.

It was stated that the I-T department had registered cases under the Benami Transactions (Prohibition) Act and begun an investigation.
