Adilabad: BRS leaders and cadre, including women, led by former minister Jogu Ramanna on Tuesday staged a dharna in front of the District Collectorate in Adilabad demanding that the state government continue Kalyana Lakshmi and Shaadi Mubarak schemes for the benefit of poor families.

Speaking to media persons, Ramanna alleged that the state government, led by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, is planning to drop the Shaadi Mubarak and Kalyana Lakshmi schemes introduced by former chief minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao during his rule, , using the High Court’s directives as a pretext.

The former minister pointed out that lakhs of poor families have benefited from these schemes. He declared that people will not remain silent in case the state government drops the schemes.

BRS workers headed by Boath MLA Anil Jadhav also staged a rasta roko in Ichoda demanding the continuation of Kalyana Lakshmi and Shaadi Mubarak schemes.

Those who participated in the protest programme included Adilabad BRS party president Ajay and senior leaders Sajiduddin, Younus Akbani, Dasari Ramesh, Jangili Prashanth, Swarupa Rani, Bodagam Mamatha, Parveen, Anajali, Saleem, Dharmapal, and Karuna.
