HYDERABAD: The Telangana State Waqf Board has uploaded details of 54,445 waqf properties on the UMEED portal ahead of its closure on Friday.

According to data available till 5 pm, a total of 63,911 waqf properties were processed. Of these, 54,445 were approved, 3,801 were initiated for entry by makers, and 79 were pending verification by checkers.

The UMEED portal, an initiative of the ministry of minority affairs, aims to digitise, verify and monitor waqf properties across the country.

The report indicated that 5,582 properties were either rejected or pending. Among districts, Hyderabad recorded the highest number of approved waqf properties at 9,986, followed by Nizamabad (4,629), Sangareddy (4,428), Rangareddy (3,362) and Kamareddy (3,310).

Abul Fateh Syed Bandagi Badesha Quadri said no fresh registrations or entries would be allowed after the portal’s closure. He said many private trusts falling under the waqf-by-user category did not register due to lack of awareness, adding that over 1 lakh institutions were estimated to fall under this category.

Officials said most rejections were due to duplicate entries made by both makers and the waqf board.
