CURE for Education: Telangana Sanctions Rs.1,011 Cr for Massive Infrastructure Overhaul in Urban Districts

The government has sanctioned Rs.1,011.65 crore for 11 integrated school complexes, the upgradation of 17 schools and the construction of 501 additional classrooms in 164 government schools across Hyderabad, Medchal-Malkajgiri, Rangareddy and Sangareddy districts in the Core Urban Region Economy (CURE) area. The approvals were part of the Education Week behind held under the 99-day ‘Praja Palana — Pragathi Pranalika initiative.

“These interventions will provide modern, safe and conducive learning environments from Pre-Primary to Class XII in urban growth corridors, ensuring equitable access to quality education in alignment with Vision 2047,” said the department of school education said.

Officials said the government identified had service-deficit areas across the four districts and district collectors to locate encumbrance-free government-owned land parcels for new campuses. The Telangana state Education Women and Infrastructure Development Corporation (TGEWIDC) carried out site inspections and prepared estimates after meetings with district education officials.

Education Week programmes also included academic planning exercises in state universities. JNTUH released its institutional development Plan along with detailed books for academic enablers linked to short-term and long-term planning. University officials said the plan took shape after awareness sessions and institutional consultations conducted since January under the coordination of Professor Dr M.V.S.S. Giridhar and the Directorate of Academic and Planning.

Telangana High Court judge Justice Surepalli Nanda and poet-MLC Gorati Venkanna attended the celebrations at Veeranari Chakali Ilamma Women’s University.
