Curbs on Heavy Vehicle Eased in Kawal Tiger Reserve
Forest dept eases ban with environmental fee and existing road restrictions
Adilabad: The forest department has issued orders relaxing the restriction on the movement of heavy vehicles weighing over 10 tons through the Kawal Tiger Reserve between 6 am and 9 pm.
Heavy vehicles will now be allowed upon payment of an environmental fee, similar to that levied on other vehicles, and subject to the usual restrictions imposed by the roads and buildings department.
The orders, issued by Elusing Meru, principal chief conservator of forests (wildlife) and chief wildlife warden, directed the Kawal Tiger Reserve offices to implement the decision.
The relaxation was approved during the State Board for Wildlife meeting held on August 4.
Forest staff will collect the entry fee at the Tapalpur, Indhanpalli, Pandavpur, and Kothagudem check-posts. The proposed new rates are Rs 150 for transport vehicles and Rs 50 for cars and jeeps.
