MLA’s Intervention Helps Dalit Woman Marry Her Lover
Sridevi’s lover, Srikanth, agreed to marry her following the MLA’s intervention and the couple tied the nuptial knot on Thursday.
WARANGAL: A Dalit woman, Sridevi, who had been staging a hunger strike for four days demanding marriage to her lover, got justice on Thursday after Wardhannapet MLA, K.R. Nagaraju, intervened in the matter.
Sridevi’s lover, Srikanth, agreed to marry her following the MLA’s intervention and the couple tied the nuptial knot on Thursday. Srikanth and Sridevi exchanged garlands in the presence of Wardhannapet municipal chairperson Palakurthi Sarangapani and his wife Sujatha.
After the start of the hunger strike, the MLA held discussions with both sides and persuaded them to agree for the marriage.
The marriage led to celebrations among the families, supporters and local residents. Warangal district Congress president Mohammed Ayub and others attended the ceremony.
