The CSIR‑Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (CSIR‑IICT), Hyderabad, observed the 85th CSIR Foundation Day on Monday, with speakers emphasising scientific research, indigenous technology and institutional collaboration to strengthen India’s self‑reliance.

CSIR‑IICT Director Dr D. Srinivasa Reddy said sustained research and innovation were essential to building a developed India. He urged newly joined scientists and staff to align their work with CSIR’s mandate, collaborate across institutions and focus on translating research into applications.

Dr Ankathi Raju, distinguished scientist and director of the Defence Research and Development Laboratory (DRDL), Hyderabad, was the chief guest. He highlighted the scope for collaboration between DRDL and CSIR‑IICT, particularly by combining their scientific capabilities to develop indigenous technologies for national priorities.

The programme also recognised employees who completed 25 years of service and honoured those who retired during the year. Children of CSIR‑IICT employees who excelled in academics and sports were felicitated during the celebrations.
