CP Directs Swift Probe in Pocso Cases
He directed officers to give the safety and privacy of child victims the highest priority and handle them with sensitivity
NIZAMABAD: Commissioner of police P. Sai Chaitanya has directed police officers to identify and arrest accused persons at the earliest and expedite investigations in Pocso cases to ensure speedy justice for child victims.
The CP held a review meeting at the Police Commissionerate here on Sunday to assess the progress of Pocso cases registered across Nizamabad district. He reviewed the status of investigations, arrests, evidence collection, witness statements and the cases involving child victims.
He directed officers to give the safety and privacy of child victims the highest priority and handle them with sensitivity. He also stressed the need to collect scientific evidence and complete FSL and medical examinations of victims and accused without delay.
Officers were instructed to collect CCTV footage, mobile phones, digital evidence and other technical evidence as per procedure and properly document witness statements and other crucial evidence.
The CP directed officers to file charge sheets immediately after completing FSL examinations, medical reports and other investigative procedures, and avoid unnecessary delays in Pocso cases.
He also instructed officers to monitor every pending POCSO case regularly and bring any technical or administrative difficulties to the notice of senior officers. He said investigations should be swift, scientific and thorough to ensure that offenders were brought to justice.
DCP (Admin) N. Shubham Prakash, ACPs Prakash Yadav, Venkateshwara Reddy and Srinivas, special branch inspectors Sridhar Reddy and Mallesham, CCRB inspector R. Anjaiah, along with CIs, IT staff and others, attended the meeting.
