Financier Runs Over Woman Farm Worker
She had borrowed ₹3,000 and repaid ₹1,800
A financier allegedly murdered a 43‑year‑old farm worker by running his jeep over her after she failed to repay his loan. According to Tadur SI Ramulu, the accused Bheemaiah, following an argument at his farmhouse in Kothacheruvu, Tadur suburb of Nagarkurnool district, pushed the victim Bangaramma to the ground and ran over her with his jeep. She died on the spot on Saturday.
Bangaramma, a native of Telkapally mandal, worked as a labourer at Bheemaiah’s farmhouse. She had borrowed ₹3,000 and repaid ₹1,800. When intercepted on her way home, she pleaded for more time. The accused sat in his vehicle, accelerated, and fled after ensuring she was dead, police said. Ramulu said the CLUES team collected evidence, the body was shifted to the government hospital for post‑mortem, and handed over to her son Eashwariah for last rites on Sunday. A case has been registered and special teams are making efforts to arrest Bheemaiah.
Five arrested for stealing industrial chemicals from tankers
Chityal police on Sunday arrested five persons for allegedly stealing industrial chemicals from tankers in collusion with the drivers and selling them for profit.
The arrested were identified as Chamala Satyanarayana of Yadadadri-Bhongir district; Bipin Kumar Yadav and Naveen Kumar, tanker drivers from Uttar Pradesh, and K. Rakesh Prasad and P. Amit Kumar (36), workers at a dhaba at Chityal in Nalgonda district.
According to police, they grew suspicious when two tankers carrying industrial chemicals were parked behind a dhaba near Choutuppal. The tankers were transporting solvents, isopropyl alcohol and methanol. During inspection, police found that the quantity of chemicals in the tankers was less than that mentioned in the documents.
During questioning, the drivers allegedly revealed the involvement of three others who helped them steal the chemicals. The accused allegedly transferred the chemicals from the tankers into drums and sold them in Hyderabad at higher prices.
Police seized two SUVs, two tankers and a mini-lorry in connection with the case. The five arrested persons were produced before a court in Nalgonda, which remanded them in judicial custody.
Two arrested for smuggling Sandra wood using tampered permits
Khammam Central Crime Station (CCS) police on Sunday arrested two persons for allegedly smuggling Sandra wood (Acacia catechu) by tampering with forest department permits.
The arrested were identified as Korra Shiva, a native of Gopya Thanda in Mothe mandal of Suryapet district, and timber trader Radhe Shyam of Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh.
Presenting the accused at a media conference, CCS Assistant Commissioner of Police Mohammed Sarwar said a case was registered at the Khammam CCS police station in December 2025 following a complaint from the Khammam Forest Range Officer regarding the illegal transportation of Sandra wood.
According to police, the accused obtained permits from the Khammam Forest Office in the names of other persons for transporting babool (Nalla Thumma) wood and allegedly tampered with the documents by changing the description to Sandra wood.
Police said the accused felled Sandra trees in Ayyagarupalli, Kuravi, Seerolu, Kampelli and Mahabubabad and transported the wood illegally to Vijayawada. Radhe Shyam allegedly supplied the wood to Abdul Raheman of AM Enterprises in Jhabua town of Madhya Pradesh, where it was used to manufacture kattha, an ingredient in pan masala.
Around nine truckloads of the wood were allegedly supplied to other states, police said. Further investigation is underway to identify others involved in the alleged smuggling.
Special team to quiz Roshan Travels shooting suspects
The city police have constituted a special team to question two suspects who had opened fire in a private travels office. The two suspects, who were fleeing after murdering a security guard and robbing an ATM last year, were arrested by the Bidar police in Bihar.
Sources said city police commissioner V.C. Sajjanar would himself question the suspects. City police are likely to file a prisoner transit (PT) warrant to bring the suspects after August 31, when their 15‑day police custody with Bidar police is completed.
Bidar police had arrested Manish Kushwaha and Amit Kumar in connection with the murder of security guard Giri Venkatesh and loot of ₹93 lakh from ATM in Shivajinagar, Bidar, on January 16 last year.
The Karnataka police had offered a ₹5-lakh reward for their capture, and the Bidar crime branch, ₹4 lakh. They were arrested from their hideout in Bihar by a Bidar special police team on August 16. Sources said Kumar and Kushwaha would be taken for scene recreation.
The duo, after the fatal ATM heist, entered Hyderabad to escape to Bihar via Raipur. They went to Roshan Travels in Afzalgunj to book tickets to Raipur, where the ticketing agent grew suspicious and asked them for a luggage check. The duo opened fire, resulting in bullet injuries to Mohammed Jahangir, travels manager.
Gang held for fake Panchaloha idol fraud
Six members of a gang attempting to cheat prospective customers of ₹10 lakh by selling a fake Panchaloha idol of Goddess Lakshmi have been arrested by Jubilee Hills task force and Mailardevpally police.
The gang was tracked and arrested at Laxmiguda, Katedan, on Sunday. Police seized the fake idol, a pink stone, a car and five mobile phones, DCP task force Gaikwad Vaibhav Raghunath said. The prime accused, P. Narsimha, revealed he was deceived by Challa Ravi and Kondapelli Bikshapathi of Vemulawada, who gave him the fake idol in 2024 for ₹10 lakh. He later handed it to co‑accused Vadathya Kumar. Together with Kethavath Raju, Praveen Singh and Mangali Basava Naresh, they sought buyers.
While searching for purchasers, Raju informed the group he also possessed a stone purchased from Malik of Hussainialam. Police seized the idol, mobile phones, pink stone, an Ertiga vehicle (TS04B0549), three red towels and three bottles. The accused and seized material were handed over to Mailardevpally police for further investigation.
Unidentified man dies after falling from moving train
An unidentified man died after allegedly falling from a moving train near Bhongir in the early hours of Sunday.
According to police, the man accidentally fell from a train travelling from Kazipet to Secunderabad at around 2 am. He died on the spot.
Police said no identity documents were found on the deceased, who was around 45 years old. He was wearing a blue shirt and grey trousers and had a mole on the right side of his chest.
