Congress to Hold Dharna Demanding Public Disclosure of SIR ‘Notice List’

Hyderabad:The Congress on Monday announced that it would hold a protest at Dharna Chowk, demanding the immediate public disclosure of the list of voter names with anomalies and those not mapped under the ongoing special intensive revision (SIR) of the electoral roll.

In a media statement, Hyderabad district Congress president Syed Khalid Saifullah asked why Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) C. Sudharsan Reddy was reluctant to release the data, when the neighbouring states of Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh had done so. He warned that if the lists were not released even after the dharna, he would begin a hunger strike to press for transparency in the electoral revision process.

“Nearly 93 lakh Telangana voters have been flagged, yet political parties have not been given access to these lists. How can political party booth level agents (BLAs) help if they do not even know who has been flagged,” Saifullah asked.

Saifullah said the Congress had repeatedly raised the issue with the CEO, including through personal representations, written submissions and the media. “We have exhausted every democratic avenue available to us. Yet the basic information concerning nearly 93 lakh voters continues to be withheld,” he said.

“Karnataka is publishing lists of persons issued notices, along with the reasons. Puducherry has also placed logical discrepancy lists in the public domain. Many districts in Uttar Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh have also published such lists publicly. If this information can be disclosed elsewhere, why should nearly 93 lakh Telangana voters be denied the same transparency,” he asked.

Safiullah also referred to the Supreme Court’s January 19, 2026, order relating to the SIR in West Bengal, saying the apex court had emphasised on the public accessibility of lists with logical discrepancies and recognised the role of BLAs in assisting affected voters.
