Congress party.

The Congress is planning to organise a mega rally in Hyderabad in November against the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, as part of the nationwide agitation announced by the AICC demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged “vote theft”.

Party sources said the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) plans to mobilise around two lakh people for the rally and invite AICC leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi, and other leaders of INDIA bloc parties. The proposed rally, on the lines of the recent INDIA bloc protest in Delhi, is likely to begin near the Indira Gandhi statue at Necklace Road and proceed towards Parade Grounds in Secunderabad, sources added.

Revanth Reddy will hold a meeting with ministers, Congress MPs, MLAs, MLCs, corporation chairpersons and senior leaders at Praja Bhavan on Friday to discuss the rally's roadmap and other political and organisational issues.

The Chief Minister is expected to stress the importance of Congress leaders participating in the INDIA bloc's November 1 rally in Delhi against SIR. The Chief Minister, ministers, Congress MLAs, MLCs and MPs will also take part in the rally in Delhi.

The meeting will also review the impact of El Nino conditions in Telangana and the precautionary measures required in vulnerable areas.

The two Graduate MLC elections scheduled for March next year in the Hyderabad-Rangareddy-Mahabubnagar and Warangal-Khammam-Nalgonda constituencies will also figure prominently in the discussions.

With voter enrolment closing on November 6, Revanth Reddy is expected to direct MPs, MLAs, MLCs and district in-charge ministers to intensify the registration drive across the six erstwhile districts covered by the constituencies.

The ruling Congress is attaching considerable importance to the elections as the six districts account for 77 of the state's 119 Assembly constituencies. The party aims to win both seats to consolidate its political position ahead of the Assembly elections scheduled for December 2028.
