NIZAMABAD: Nizamabad City Congress Committee (CCC) president Bobbili Ramakrishna on Tuesday questioned the timing of the protest staged by BJP MP Dharmapuri Arvind. He alleged that the Lok Sabha member is aiming to take credit for development works planned by the state government in Nizamabad.

The CCC president alleged that Arvind had made it a habit to stage protests to remain politically relevant. He accused the MP of pressuring school managements to bring students to the protest for political gains, thereby wasting their valuable time and disrupting their education.

He underlined that the BJP protest failed to attract support from trade and voluntary organisations, except for traders allegedly involved in a multi-crore paddy scam.

Ramakrishna maintained that TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud and government adviser P. Sudarshan Reddy had recently taken Congress leaders from Nizamabad district to meet Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and discuss funds for the district's development. He alleged that Arvind has launched the protest to claim credit for the development works expected to begin soon.

Further, the CCC president criticised Nizamabad Urban MLA Dhanpal Suryanarayana of BJP for joining the protest, saying elected representatives should work with the state government to accelerate development, rather than oppose its development initiatives.

Ramakrishna said the state government is releasing funds for development works across municipal divisions without discrimination on party lines. He pointed out that Arvind and Suryanarayana had attended the foundation-stone laying ceremonies for works taken up with funds already sanctioned by the government.

The CCC president said the BJP MP is welcome to bring funds from the centre for developing Nizamabad district.
