Hyderabad: Revenue minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy said the resurvey of agricultural land holdings and ‘abadi’ properties would be completed within 18 months to resolve disputes permanently and ensure transparency in the records.

He said the resurvey was underway in 70 villages in each district in the first phase.

He directed district collectors and revenue officials to closely monitor the exercise and ensure its timely completion.

Interacting with tahsildars and surveyors, the minister sought details on the progress of the survey, the number of villages covered, daily targets and the time required for completion.

He instructed officials to clearly inform farmers about land measurements and boundaries and address their doubts to prevent future disputes.

Revenue officials, from tahsildars to district collectors, should personally inspect fieldwork, interact with farmers and resolve grievances without delay.

Reviewing the functioning of the revenue, registration and housing departments in the erstwhile Medak district at the Sangareddy Collectorate on Tuesday, Srinivas Reddy expressed dissatisfaction with the performance of some revenue employees and warned of strict action against officials who failed to discharge their duties responsibly.

Despite repeated instructions, the expected results had not been achieved, he said, stressing that accountability was essential to resolving farmers' problems.

The minister said the government would continue sanctioning Indiramma houses in phases until every eligible poor family owned a house.

To reduce construction costs for beneficiaries, steps were being taken to supply cement bags at `230 each.

He directed officials to complete unfinished double-bedroom houses on a war footing and ensure their allotment was speedy, transparent and based strictly on eligibility.
