Commercial Tax Collections Swell 6%
Regarding the transport department, the committee directed that the newly-introduced Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) system be widely implemented across various departments to conduct large-scale inspections.
Hyderabad: Commercial tax collections have increased six per cent in 2024-25 as compared with 2023-24. In March 2025 alone, the commercial taxes department had set a revenue target of Rs 600 crore through CST and VAT, and realised Rs 500 crore.
The Cabinet Sub-Committee on revenue mobilisation reviewed the performance of revenue-generating departments at the Secretariat on Monday and found that the commercial taxes department performed better than other departments such as excise, stamps and registrations, among others.
The committee directed officials to identify and rectify any revenue leakages in the excise department to enhance income. Although good progress has been seen in the sale of apartments and flats, the expected momentum is lacking in the sale of agricultural lands and open plots. The committee instructed officials to analyse the situation and take appropriate action.
