Karimnagar: Investigations into the May 3 PMJ jewellery showroom robbery have revealed an inter-state organised crime network with a structured hierarchy, police said.

According to investigators, the syndicate is allegedly led by Subodh Singh, who is currently lodged in a Bihar jail. Police said the group recruits experienced offenders and operates through a coordinated system with defined roles.

Sources said members were assigned specific tasks, including reconnaissance and execution. Payments were reportedly made to operatives, with additional incentives for successful operations routed through indirect channels.

Police said the gang used coded communication and avoided conventional methods. Specialised mobile applications with auto-delete features were used to minimise digital evidence.

In the Karimnagar case, officials said the accused avoided highways and checkpoints, using offline navigation tools to move through interior routes. Initial suspicion of local involvement was ruled out after investigation indicated that the team consisted of out-of-state operatives.

Investigators said the accused frequently changed locations to avoid detection, with family members also relocating periodically.

The case saw a breakthrough after police recovered fragments of a damaged mobile phone discarded by one of the accused. Forensic analysis of the device helped trace leads linked to the operation.

Three persons have been arrested in connection with the case. Police Commissioner Goush Alam said efforts are underway to secure custody of the alleged mastermind for further investigation.
