Hyderabad:The Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) issued new solid waste management rules for apartments, villas and gated communities in Patancheru Circle-46 under the Serilingampally zone, directing them separate waste into wet, dry and domestic hazardous categories before handing it over to sanitation workers. Officials said that unsegregated waste will not be accepted.

The guidelines also make on-site wet waste processing compulsory for bulk waste generators producing more than 100 kilograms of waste every day. Communities must process waste through composting or bio-methanation units within their premises.

The use of banned single-use plastic items, including plastic carry bags, thermocol items and disposable cutlery, has also been prohibited. Residents are being encouraged to use cloth bags and eco-friendly alternatives.

CMC warned that fines and user charges will be imposed for littering, burning waste in open spaces and failing to follow segregation rules. Resident welfare associations and facility managers have been asked to create awareness among residents, provide colour-coded bins and submit monthly compliance reports to the circle office.
