The Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) tightened regulation of weekly markets in residential colonies, citing the need to maintain cleanliness and hygiene in neighbourhoods. No new weekly markets will now be permitted in residential colonies, while existing markets will be monitored by municipal field staff. The CMC has instructed vegetable vendors operating in existing markets to collect and properly dispose of vegetable waste, plastic covers and other refuse generated from their stalls.

Waste must not be dumped on roads, footpaths or other public places, the corporation said. During inspections, vendors found throwing waste onto roads or creating unhygienic conditions will be barred from operating in the following week, besides facing any other action permitted under municipal regulations.
