Sajjanar and district election authority warn not to fall prey to fraudsters during SIR

Hyderabad:With the enumeration process of Special Intensive Revision (SIR) – 2026 underway, Hyderabad police commissioner V. C. Sajjanar and the district election authority warned people that they could be cheated under the guise of this task.

They mentioned that people should not fall prey to fraudsters, who may pose as booth level officers or election officials and ask citizens to share OTP on the pretext of updating voter details or verifying their names in the electoral roll.

“Your vote is precious, so is your personal information, don’t let scammers steal your identity in the name of SIR-2026. Election officials will never ask for your OTP, never share OTPs or banking details over phone calls,” said Sajjanar. “Once the OTP is shared you are leaving your money and personal data at risk,” he added.

The Hyderabad district election authority advised that people should disconnect the call and report suspicious calls to 1930 and spread awareness. They further advised to use OTPs only on official Election Commission of India platforms to access or verify voter-related services and asserted that OTP should never be shared.
