CM Revanth To Hand Over Indiramma Houses in KCR’s Adopted Village Vasalamarri

 Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy will undertake district tours from August 10 to 16 to, among others, initiate the distribution of smart ration cards and the launch of development works at the Sammakka-Saralamma temple in Medaram. Notably, he will inaugurate Indiramma houses at a ceremony in a village adopted by his predecessor K. Chandrashekar Rao.

The Chief Minister was scheduled to visit Nalgonda, Yadadri-Bhongir, Sangareddy and Mulugu districts over the week. On August 10, Revanth Reddy will visit the Nagarjunasagar dam and perform Varuna Yagam seeking abundant rainfall amid concerns over deficient monsoon rainfall. The Chief Minister is also expected to review the water situation and irrigation requirements during the visit.

On August 13, Revanth Reddy will visit Vasalamarri in Yadadri-Bhongir district and hand over 143 Indiramma houses to beneficiaries in a mass housewarming ceremony. The village had been adopted by then-Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, who visited it in August 2021, inspected houses in a dilapidated condition and promised to construct 2BHK houses if villagers came forward to demolish their existing houses.

Several villagers demolished their houses and began living in temporary accommodation since then. The previous BRS government failed to construct the promised houses.

After assuming office in December 2023, the Congress gave special attention to Vasalamarri and sanctioned Indiramma houses for the affected families. The construction of 143 houses has now been completed and the houses are ready for inauguration.

On August 15, the Chief Minister will visit Sangareddy district and formally launch the distribution of 1. 05 crore new smart ration cards to beneficiaries across. The government has so far sanctioned 16. 32 lakh new ration cards, bringing an additional 61. 09 lakh people under the food security net.

With the sanction of the new cards, the total number of ration cards in Telangana has risen to 1. 05 crore, covering around 3. 42 crore beneficiaries. The state government is distributing around 2. 16 lakh metric tonnes of fine rice every month to ration card holders. The cards are stated to be secure and tamper-proof to enhance transparency in the public distribution system. On August 16, Revanth Reddy will visit Medaram in Mulugu district and launch the second-phase development works at the famous Sammakka-Saralamma temple. The government has been taking up infrastructure and development works at Medaram with the objective of improving facilities for devotees and strengthening the temple's pilgrimage infrastructure.
