CM Revanth to Collectors: Take Precautions During Monsoon
“Unexpected downpours can occur in any part of the state. Officers must stay alert and coordinate with weather departments to issue timely warnings to villages, at least three hours in advance,” Revanth said.
Hyderabad: Citing the recent downpours, and forecast of more rainfall, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy stressed the need for vigilance in the weeks ahead, with regard to the impact of weather and as well as health.
He urged collectors at a conference here on Monday to prepare for erratic monsoon conditions through August and take precautions to prevent loss of life and property.
“Unexpected downpours can occur in any part of the state. Officers must stay alert and coordinate with weather departments to issue timely warnings to villages, at least three hours in advance,” he said.
He added that since June, rainfall across the state has been 21 per cent below normal, although recent spells had caused urban flooding, especially in GHMC areas. To tackle this, he directed all departments, including police, traffic, NDRF, SDRF and the Hyderabad-based HYDRA to be on standby with 150 teams for rapid response.
On health preparedness, Revanth Reddy directed the medical and health department to tackle seasonal fevers and dengue in vulnerable areas, particularly tribal and remote regions. He ordered that doctors be available at all PHCs and government hospitals, with the veterinary department also on alert.
The government has released ₹1 crore in emergency funds for each district. Collectors were told to conduct surprise checks at hospitals and submit daily field visit reports to the Chief Secretary.
