Hyderabad: head of the municipal polls, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has appointed ministers as incharges for Parliament constituencies who will begin preparatory meetings in their designated constituency from January 20, and has directed them to ensure that there is no rebellion from aspirants who are denied tickets.

The ministers were asked to direct their efforts in achieving targeted results and to ensure that rebellion is neutralised through effective coordination meetings. Party sources said that the ministers were directed to address lapses which were observed during the recent gram panchayat polls.
Fierce rivalry in a few Assembly constituencies including Jagtial, Gadwal, Patancheru and Chevella, continues to simmer particularly between loyalist Congress leaders and BRS MLAs who defected to the ruling party. This feud has sometimes played into the hands of the BRS and is also believed to have impacted results in the gram panchayat polls.
The Chief Minister has asked the ministers and party leaders to ensure rebel nominations are not filed and aspirants who were denied tickets are entrusted with work on strategies and resolve rivalries by engaging all factions, sources informed. At the Sunday’s meeting held in Medaram, Revanth Reddy asked the ministers to monitor the election process and ensure the victory of Congress candidates.
Meanwhile the PCC has decided to constitute screening committees at the Parliamentary constituency level for the selection of candidates. “For each of the Parliament constituencies, a committee will be formed with the incharge minister as chairperson and the DCC presidents will serve as converners. MPs, MLAs, party contestants from previous polls, and senior leaders will serve as members,” sources said.
