CM Revanth: Graduate Voter Enrolment Poor, Aim For 7 Lakh Enrolments In Each Seat
He asked party leaders and cadre to ensure that every eligible graduate registers and exercises their franchise.
Hyderabad:Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has expressed serious concern over poor enrolment of graduate voters in the two Graduate MLC constituencies going for polls in early 2027, warning that inadequate registration could affect the Congress’ electoral prospects. He asked party leaders and cadre to ensure that every eligible graduate registers and exercises their franchise.
Addressing a meeting of Congress leaders, MPs, MLAs and MLCs to discuss the party's strategy for the elections, Revanth Reddy said enrolment in the Mahbubnagar-Rangareddy-Hyderabad constituency had reached only 36 per cent of the total registered voters in the 2021 elections, leaving 64 per cent yet to register. In the Warangal-Khammam-Nalgonda constituency, enrolment stood at 42 per cent compared to the previous election, even as the November 6 deadline was just 15 days away.
The Chief Minister said both constituencies had recorded more than five lakh graduate voters each in 2021, but the Congress should aim for seven lakh enrolments in each constituency this time by reaching out to every eligible graduate across the six undivided districts.
He said the party had fielded young leaders Sama Rammohan Reddy and Ramreddy Sarvotham Reddy, who could serve the Congress for the next 30 years. The party had selected the best candidates and all leaders should work together to ensure their victory, he said.
Revanth Reddy alleged that the BRS and BJP were colluding to defeat the Congress and called upon party leaders to remain vigilant and counter their efforts. He said the Congress had won 66 per cent of sarpanch seats in Gram Panchyat polls and secured 85 per cent of seats in municipal elections, demonstrating the strength of its grassroots organisation.
