Revanth Orders Officials to Rescue Rain-hit People
Revanth along with Uttam, Mahesh made aerial view in heavy rain affected districts
MEDAK: With six persons dead, many rivers in spate and vast swathes of land covered in water after record levels of rainfall and road and rail traffic disrupted, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Thursday directed officials to intensify relief operations and evacuate people to safer locations. He directed the electricity department to take precautionary measures to ensure uninterrupted and safe power supply.
He was speaking after an aerial survey of the affected areas, accompanied by irrigation minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy and TPCC president B. Mahesh Kumar Goud, including in Peddapalli, Kamareddy and Medak districts.
The Chief Minister directed officials to respond swiftly to grievances of the people and intensify relief operations. “Natural calamities occur suddenly, but it is the responsibility of the district administration to remain alert and ensure that no property damage, crop loss, or loss of life occurs,” he said.
Revanth Reddy directed Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao to prepare proposals for compensation covering crop damage, property loss, and loss of lives on a war-footing. Stressing the need for long-term disaster management, he suggested construction of high-level bridges in flood-prone areas to ensure permanent solutions.
With several streams and tanks overflowing in Medak, the CM advised people to take necessary precautions and assured that the government would extend full support. He also instructed that crop loss assessments must be properly documented with photo and video evidence for district records, while rainfall data should be recorded systematically.
The Chief Minister directed that people living in old or vulnerable houses should be shifted to safer areas immediately. He further asked electricity officials to ensure uninterrupted power supply, especially for devotees visiting Ganesh pandals during the Vinayaka Chaturthi festivities.
Addressing the issue of urea shortage in some districts, Revanth Reddy pointed out that while buffer stock is being maintained, farmers purchasing urea in advance for the upcoming crop season may cause temporary shortages. He advised officials to create awareness among farmers on adopting nano urea as an alternative.
Later, the Chief Minister visited a photo exhibition displaying images of flood-hit regions and appreciated the efforts of the district administration in implementing relief measures promptly. Medak district collector Rahul Raj briefed him about the ongoing operations and assured that all possible steps were being taken to protect lives and restore normalcy.
The Chief Minister was scheduled to conduct a review meeting at Kamareddy but his helicopter could not land due to adverse weather conditions. Instead, the team proceeded to Medak, where the CM chaired a review meeting on the situation arising from heavy rains and floods. Collector Rahul Raj, MP Raghunandan Rao, and MLA Mynampally Rohith were present at the meeting.
