Centralised Kitchen Set Up in Mancherial to Supply Breakfast to 49,104 Students
Officials said the food would be prepared under hygienic conditions and meet the nutritional guidelines of the National Institute of Nutrition, Hyderabad.
Adilabad:A centralised community kitchen has been set up in Mancherial to provide breakfast to 42,450 government school students and 6,654 students of government junior colleges under the Telangana school breakfast scheme.
The kitchen will supply breakfast to government schools and colleges in areas surrounding Mancherial, Jagtial and Peddapalli districts. Food will be prepared at the kitchen and supplied in phases in hot boxes through vehicles.
The Hare Krishna Movement’s charitable foundation will maintain the kitchen and oversee the preparation and supply of breakfast. Mancherial MLA K. Premsagar Rao inaugurated the kitchen on Monday in the presence of Akshaya Patra Foundation regional president Satya Gaura Chandra Dasa Swamiji and collector Kumar Deepak.
The Singareni Collieries Company (SCCL), headed by its chairman and managing director Dr Buddha Prakash Jyoti, provided funds under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme for the kitchen infrastructure.
The state government is planning to provide breakfast to students of government schools and lunch to students of government colleges. The centralised kitchen will serve 691 government schools and 13 government junior colleges across 17 mandals.
Officials said the food would be prepared under hygienic conditions and meet the nutritional guidelines of the National Institute of Nutrition, Hyderabad.
The kitchen has automated equipment for preparing rice, curries, sambar, breakfast items, a milk processing unit, RO water plant, food laboratory, automated vegetable-cutting unit, boiler plant and central gas bank.
According to sources, the facility can prepare 5,600 idlis, 2,000 dosas and 3,600 puris an hour.
Only vegetarian food will be prepared and served to students by the staff of the respective schools and colleges.
Premsagar Rao thanked the state government, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka and SCCL for their support to the scheme and kitchen infrastructure.
