CBSE Re-evaluation Portal Goes Live Amid Glitches, Failed Logins and Student Anxiety
The CBSE meanwhile said the portal had processed more than 16,000 submissions by 3 pm and had faced cyberattack attempts during the day: Reports
HYDERABAD: CBSE’s Class XII verification and re-evaluation portal went live on Tuesday after repeated delays since May 29, but the opening did not end the dispute around the Board’s On-Screen Marking (OSM) process. Students continued to report failed logins, expired sessions, missing scanned copies, inaccessible PDF links, payment errors, unclear correction options and pages that reloaded after entries were filled.
The CBSE meanwhile said the portal had processed more than 16,000 submissions by 3 pm and had faced cyberattack attempts during the day.
While Sukriti Garg, a Hyderabad student applying for revaluation noted that the website seemed to be working fine although she is yet to finish her application, several others took to social media platforms like X to post about the glitches. Adi Rajput, a student, wrote, “I have tried 5 times, but it still isn’t working,” and added, “All counselling sessions have already begun; don’t let our academic year go to waste!”
The timing has left lakhs of students anxious because the window runs only from June 2 to June 6 midnight and CBSE has said no offline application or late request will be accepted.
However, it is worth noting that this time CBSE publicly replied on X, treating complaints as individual support cases. The board asked several users to share roll number, application number, subject, school address and regional office through direct message. Some were asked for exact login details or the exact error message on the screen.
When Arnav Walia from Delhi West said that calls were not answered and the Delhi East number was invalid, CBSE asked him to email the issue with the subject “Re-evaluation 2026” to resultcbse2026@cbseshiksha.in. When another student said there was no button to proceed after filling details, CBSE shared the step-by-step guide. In its statement the board wrote on Tuesday, “CBSE shall examine the request and communicate the outcome after completion of the process.” A visual guide and tutorial link were also issued.
Apart from these individual student concerns, the login process became another point of criticism after CBSE added Aadhaar verification for the process citing “security reasons.” The board said children who do not have Aadhaar may use the Aadhaar details of a parent, relative or guardian.
The Aadhaar name, date of birth and gender must match the person whose Aadhaar number is used. This clarification led to questions over how the security check works if the student’s own Aadhaar is not necessary.
Several complaints on X came from students who said they could not reach the stage of re-evaluation because they had not received scanned copies or could not open them. Students also posted screenshots of login and verification failures. Rexon Fernando said, “‘Login request Expired’ Error. Tried to sign in more than 30 times.”
Pushpdeep Singh Rajput asked why his login was failing even after correct details were entered. Ashutosh Vaidya said the portal showed “Verification Failed.” Raghav Tikarya posted that the site showed “Application Window Closed” after CBSE said the portal was live.
Payment problems also surfaced and by afternoon, CBSE put out a cybersecurity update. It said the re-evaluation portal was supporting more than 8,000 concurrent users and that more than 16,000 students had completed submissions by 3 pm. The Board said malicious actors had tried to disrupt services through a “barrage of cyberattacks.”
It said the most recent incident was a denial-of-service attack attempt that caused 15 lakh hits on the portal within two minutes and more than one lakh attempts of unauthorised file access. CBSE also said student feedback had led to changes, including longer session time limits.
To recall, this comes against the wider OSM dispute that has been building around CBSE’s digital evaluation process. The dispute had earlier included public allegations of vulnerabilities in systems linked to OnMark, the service provider portal used for CBSE’s digital evaluation work. The vendor question has also moved into official scrutiny.
