HYDERABAD: The death of a 27-year-old PG medical student in a Miyapur hotel has left police puzzled, with doctors unable to determine the cause of her death during the initial postmortem examination. Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death, while a team of doctors was examining medical reports.

The deceased, Dr Komati Srijana, a native of Sangareddy, was pursuing first-year PG paediatrics at a medical college in Hanamkonda. She had come to Hyderabad on September 30 and subsequently went out of contact.

Sources said that the deceased was in relationship with one Ravi Kumar since six years after being introduced through Instagram. Kumar reportedly took a gold chain from Dr Srijana some time ago and, on September 29, booked a room at a hotel in Miyapur and asked her to come over, telling her that he would return the chain.

Dr Srijana went to the hotel on September 30. While he checked in after submitting his Aadhaar card, Dr Srijana checked-in a day later. Police said no Aadhaar or identification card was submitted. When she did not return for two days and her phone was switched off, her friends informed her family. Based on her mobile phone location, Miyapur police traced her to the hotel. The door was opened using a spare key, and she was found dead.

Police said the circumstances raised suspicion of a planned murder, with the accused allegedly having called her to the hotel. However, investigators are yet to establish how she died.

There were no external injuries on the body. As the body had already begun decomposing, doctors could not identify the cause of death during the initial examination. A team of doctors was examining the postmortem findings and other reports to determine the cause of death, sources said.
