BRS Wants Centre Drop TG Projects Subject From GRMB Agenda

KARIMNAGAR: Senior BRS leader B. Vinod Kumar has demanded that the Union government remove the issue of Telangana irrigation projects from the agenda of the Godavari River Management Board (GRMB) meeting scheduled to be held in Hyderabad on August 18.
Speaking to reporters here on Wednesday, Vinod Kumar said Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu had written to the Union government seeking cancellation of permissions for seven irrigation projects constructed on the Godavari in Telangana between 2018 and 2025.
He said the Union government had included the issue of Telangana projects in the GRMB agenda based on the AP Chief Minister’s letter. He questioned how Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and irrigation minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy would respond to the issue and what they would tell the people of Telangana.
Vinod Kumar said it was not proper to seek cancellation of permissions for projects that had been constructed after obtaining the required permissions and then include the matter in the GRMB agenda.
He criticised Telangana MPs for remaining silent while the AP government sought cancellation of permissions for seven irrigation projects in the state. He said cancellation of the projects would have serious consequences for Telangana.
The BRS leader urged MPs to visit Delhi immediately, meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and take steps to remove the issue from the GRMB agenda. He also called upon them to raise the matter in Parliament.
He warned that the BRS would launch an agitation if the issue was not removed from the agenda.
